Hey Country Squire! Remember the sleepovers from the good old days? Weren’t they fun? What if you had the opportunity to do it again, as an adult, but this time it’s under the stars on the bay of the Mississippi River!
Yes folks, you heard right. It’s a sleepover on the Mississippi River! Doesn’t that sound like fun? You can have your own ‘camping’ adventure with no insect and grizzly bear infested foliage. This all takes place at the Mud Island River Park, this Friday, August 13th. Don’t let the fact that it’s Friday the 13th scare you! The fear element may even make the experience that much more fun!
To attend this sleepover, all you have to do is bring a sleeping bag. Mud Island River Park is providing a 12’x12’ tent, dinner, live entertainment, recreational activities, campfire with marshmallows, and breakfast. You can’t beat that!
There is a catch, however. You have to register in advance since spots are limited. We all know that the entire metro-Memphis area can’t camp out on the Mississippi River. For more information, call (901) 458 – 2678. If you miss this opportunity and really want to participate, don’t worry! The next available dates are:9/10, and 10/08. I don’t believe November and December dates are available due to the cold weather. So plan ahead, and get ready to Sleep Out on the Mississippi!

Memphis in the Movies…Again

Hey Country Squire! If you missed your chance to gain your 15 minutes of fame with the Daylight Fades production in Memphis, your second chance is coming up! A new film titled “Losers Take All” will be starting production on August 16th.
The story is centered around a 1980’s indie punk pop band, and with Memphis‘ rich history in music, it’s no wonder that the filmmakers chose to shoot there rather than the Georgia town they originally thought of.
The film, budgeted at $1.5 million, will feature Kyle Gallner of this year’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake and will be directed by Alex Steyermark of “Prey for Rock & Roll,” and “One Last Thing.”
One of the main reasons that the filmmakers decided to shoot here was the local crew base. They stated that the crew and talent here are just so lively that it’s always a treat shooting in Memphis. Scenes will be shot around town at local bars, restaurants, and clubs, and will use local actors as well. Names of the places have yet to be indentified, but I’ll keep you updated as I find out.
Get ready! You may have your time to shine soon.
Meet Rocksie

Rocksie, along with a good amount of other dogs in the Memphis and Shelby County Human Society are looking for a forever home. Little Rocksie here is a pug terrier mix. Now, keep in mind that there are certain dogs that are good for apartments, and some that are not. That being said, make sure you do your research and check the Country Squire Pet Policy before making any big decisions. Who knows, maybe you’ll be taking a dog like Rocksie home!
